Reflections on a 10 hour tour – coming soon

It seems that sometimes there is an urgency to get through the day. Before it has even started I’ve determined what I am looking forward to or what I have already labeled as a not so good use of my time. Be it a meeting, gathering, or anything that becomes scheduled…I feel like I’ve become that kiddo on a road trip that knows the travel itinerary and every so often just in-case, to ensure things have not gotten off track, shouts out an, “are we there yet?”

While that might be ok for road trips (although more debate about that later), for the journey of life – shouldn’t it be just that – a journey. I mean sure there are some areas we can ask ourselves if we have arrived. But, if we become so focused on the things to check off our list and the meetings and tasks of the days – how scary of some of the greater things we might miss, give up, or lose sight to invest the time in new friendships and conversations.

Soon I will be taking a break from the normal day to day rush of to-do lists and scheduled appointments, and taking some time to just hit the road. A road trip of sorts. I hope to not ask that pondering question, “Am I there yet,” but to truly enjoy the journey.

No itinerary for the most part.
Just some destinations and a few landmarks.
And 10 hours.
Lots of reflection.
Not sure what form that will take – maybe a top ten list, a poem, or a work of art.
Stay tuned.
